Salvation Army – The Winter Project
As part of its role in inner city development and upliftment, Afhco approached all its staff and tenants in 2007, requesting donations of blankets, food or old clothes for the less fortunate who had to brave the cold Johannesburg winter on a daily basis. The response was overwhelming, especially from the Afhco tenants.
What started off as a small collection in the HR Office became a mountain of blankets (new and old), toys, food, pillows and clothes that had to be moved to a bigger storeroom. All these were handed over to the Salvation Army to distribute to the inner city homeless and less fortunate. This has now become an annual event.
